The Adventures of Gas Hood

Gas Hood worries about weaponised air, and the 21st century use of chemical warfare. Seeing patterns, Gas Hood also worries about aesthetic modernity’s attacks against faith, hope and love. With stealth it creeps up on us, filling our lungs with mind-altering effect. Raise the alarm and resist the permanent war against the good in nature.

A CAPITAL EXTRAVAGANZA

(Film still) Prototype: The Adventures of Gas Hood does Busby Berkeley, 2021. Hand-drawn animation and moving image performance 06:56.
Socialised as consumers, always producing, deeply entangled in how and what we produce, I perform myself and my character hidden in a mask, itself a character, a reconstruction of a WWI gas hood made to protect against early chemical warfare. Lost in a mass of technology, a material force. Where is our agency?
