Gas hood Worries

Gas Hood worries about weaponised air. Air indiscriminately used to target the body by targeting the environment and everything in it. Air we can’t not breathe, that with stealth creeps up on us, filling the mind with the contents of the lungs, with mind-altering effect.

This tragicomic extravaganza of artless gags, equates modern life immersed in the mass media with the information analogue to gas warfare, and deadly agents designed to influence our thoughts and spread violent ideologies and misogyny. Gas Hood has made themself look and sound frightening, in a futile attempt to protect themself.

Raise the alarm and resist the permanent war against the good in nature and rising authoritarianism.

A CAPITAL EXTRAVAGANZA

The Adventures of Gas Hood

(Film still) Prototype: The Adventures of Gas Hood does Busby Berkeley, 2021. Hand-drawn animation and moving image performance 06:56.

Socialised as consumers, always producing, deeply entangled in how and what we produce, I perform myself and my character hidden in a mask, itself a character, a reconstruction of a WWI gas hood made to protect against early chemical warfare. Lost in a mass of technology, a material force. Where is our agency?
